bullet IUCN Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG)
ISSG aims to reduce threats to natural ecosystems and the native species they contain by increasing awareness of invasive alien species, and of ways to prevent, control or eradicate them. The site includes the Global Invasive Species Database, focusing on species that negatively impact biodiversity. Part of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of The World Conservation Union (IUCN).

This website links to a database on over 80 of the known introduced species in Australian waters, and some information on species yet to be found here. NIMPIS also provides an online, convenient mechanism for members of the public or marine stakeholders to report unusual occurrences.

Find out if a specific plant can be legally imported, by visiting this database on the AQIS web site. The database lists the import conditions for more than 18,000 foreign plant, animal, mineral and human commodities.

bullet Bushland Friendly Nursery Scheme (BFNS)
The Bushland Friendly Nursery Scheme (BFNS) covering the North Coast of NSW (Taree to the Qld Border), is a voluntary agreement between Nurseries and Councils not to sell a number of plants identified as currently or potentially invasive to natural ecosystems. An Environmental Weeds and Native Alternatives booklet is available on the web site.
