Invasive Species Council
Gorse
During the colonial era, gorse (Ulex europaeus) was planted by farmers as a live fence - when grown in hedges it forms prickly walls that stop sheep straying.
It is now an extremely invasive weed that forms dense thickets. Photographed west of Launceston. |
